Man, 23, arrested in connection with attempted robbery of jewellers in Northampton town centre

Police rushed to Northampton town centre this morning after they were called to an attempted robbery.

The attempted robbery took place at Michael Jones' Jewellers in Gold Street just after 11am today (May 21).

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the crime.

No damage to the store has been reported, according to police.

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police confirmed that a man remains in police custody in connection with the attempted robbery at time of writing.
