Driver's £1,800 fine after police find tot on passenger's lap in wrecked Mercedes on busy Northampton road

Shocked Police found a wrecked Mercedes being driven in Northampton with a toddler being carried on a passenger's lap.
Magistrates heard that Gabriel Raducanu only had a provisional licence when he was stopped while driving in Towcester Road at around 8.40pm on April 13 this year.

Hide AdOfficers noticed that the Mercedes E320's bonnet had been pushed in by the impact of a road collision, the bumper had been left with jagged edges, one headlight was smashed while the airbags were held into the steering wheel by sticky tape.
They also found a child under two years of age travelling on the lap of the adult passenger.
Mr Raducanu, 33, who did not appear in court, was convicted of driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition and causing danger of injury to a person, driving without L plates or under supervision and having no insurance.
He was banned for 28 days and ordered to pay a total of £1,784 in fines and costs.
