Taxi driver punched in the face in Rushden

A taxi driver was punched in the face and head by a passenger who became aggressive after being asked to get out of the car.
The attack happened between midnight and 12.15am on Sunday, March 1, when a taxi driver picked up a fare from Market Square in Higham Ferrers and travelled towards Rushden.

Hide AdA spokesman for Northants Police said: "The driver became suspicious that his passengers were unable to pay the fare and stopped his car in High Street, Rushden, opposite The Railway Inn and asked the man and two females to get out.
"The man became aggressive and punched the driver in the face and head before getting out and kicking the vehicle causing damage to the door panels."
The offender is described as white, about 30-years-old, 6ft, of a medium build with short hair and clean shaven.
He spoke with a local accent.
